Ah yes, the classic “what do we wear?” question! I get it. Picking outfits for a photo session can feel like a lot of pressure, but it doesn’t have to be stressful. The truth is, what you wear really does impact the overall look of your photos, but that doesn’t mean it has to be trendy, fancy, or expensive.

What matters most? That you feel comfortable, confident, and like yourself. If you're relaxed in your clothes, that will show in your photos and that’s way more important than chasing the latest fashion trend. The same goes for your kids and teens. Let them wear something they love and feel good in (even if it's their favorite hoodie or well-worn jeans).
A few simple tips:
-
Avoid big logos, graphics, or bold patterns. These can be distracting and take away from the focus: you!
-
Think coordinated, not matching. You don’t all have to wear the same color or outfit. A soft, cohesive color palette (earth tones, neutrals, muted shades) tends to photograph beautifully and keeps things looking timeless.
-
Layers and textures (like knits, linen, denim) add visual interest without being overwhelming.
-
Skip the uniforms. When everyone’s dressed identically, it can look a bit too staged. Go for harmony rather than sameness - it feels more natural and relaxed.

Still not sure? I’m always happy to help! You can send me photos of outfit options, and I’ll help you pull it all together.
